Direct Glaze Product Information
We supply single vision polarised, fixed tint or reacting lenses in our Direct Glaze range.
Polarised lenses absorb UV light and cut down reflected glare from surfaces. Polarisation makes images appear clearer and sharper, and improves visual comfort.
Polarised lenses are particularly beneficial for fishing, water sports, driving and cycling but are also a great general purpose sun spectacle lens option. The depth of the tint is fixed at about 85%.
Contraindications: Flying and driving classic cars (laminated windscreen issues).
Fixed Tint Lenses
All our fixed tinted lenses are made of impact-resistant polycarbonate material and absorb high levels of UV. They have a fixed level of visible light absorption of approximately 80% (sunspec depth tint). This tint will NOT alter, regardless of lighting conditions.
Reacting lenses change colour with the ambient light. The depth of tint at any time depends on the brightness of light plus the general temperature; lenses react more efficiently when it is cool and bright. All our reacting lenses are made of impact-resistant polycarbonate material and absorb high levels of UV.
Reacting lenses are ideal for multiple outside sports including cycling and skiing. There are different starting tints which can be selected:
Standard reacting lenses: Virtually clear in the un-reacted state when indoors, but go darker when outside. Ideal choice if you’re a cyclist doing a lot of cycling in low lighting levels e.g. early morning commuting.
Adaptive lenses: Have a base mid-depth tint and will go darker outside if it’s bright. Will appear more like sun spectacles all of the time.
